INDUSTRIAL PRODUCTION DOWN 0.4 IN APRIL

Industrial production dropped 0.4 percent in April, the Federal Reserve said Tuesday. The fall followed two months of gains, up 0.5 percent in March and 0.9 percent in February.

The Fed also said the operating rate of the nation's factories, mines and utilities slipped 0.5 percentage point to 83.0 percent in April.
