PROMOTER CANCELS COUNTRY MUSIC FESTIVAL

The Southwest Virginia Music Festival, held last year in Wythe County and for 13 years before that in Russell County, will be held nowhere this year.

Promoter Bob Sutherland said the summer country music festival lost thousands of dollars last year and would not be repeated - at least not in 1990. He did not rule out the possibility of trying again in 1991.

Despite the crowds of people attending last year, Sutherland said the numbers did not generate enough money to meet expenses.
