AUGUSTA UNLIKELY TO GET TORNADO AID

It is unlikely Augusta County will qualify for federal aid in its bid to recover from the May 4 tornado that killed two people and caused considerable damage, a state official said.

"We have reviewed the resolutions, and all indications show there is not enough damage to warrant federal funding," Michael J. LaCivita, spokesman for the state Department of Emergency Services, said Tuesday.

Reports fixing Augusta County's tornado damage at $787,900 have been forwarded to the Federal Emergency Management Administration, LaCivita said. - Associated Press
