Here's a listing of some of the beach music events in the region this summer.
ROANOKE VALLEY
The Valleypointe After Hours series at the Valleypointe Corporate Center (at the intersection of Peters Creek Road and I-581) runs 5-8 p.m. each Thursday evening through Sept. 20. The Sheiks of Shag will perform today. Tickets for each event are $2 at the gate. Other bands include the O'Kaysions, The Band of Oz and The Chairmen of the Board.
The event, which will benefit Easter Seals, is sponsored by Lingerfelt Development Corporation, WROV-AM and FM, Catering by Murphy's . . . of Course! and Miller Beer. For more information, call 362-1656.
The Roanoke Valley Shag Club is presenting a concert by The Catalinas on Friday at the Valley Sports Arena between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m.
The event will benefit the Roanoke-area chapter of the Leukemia Society. Tickets are $7 in advance and $10 at the door and may be purchased at the Leukemia Society's Roanoke office at 2728 Colonial Ave.

Roanoke Special Events Committee Beach Party, will be held Saturday, Aug. 25, from 7-11 p.m. on the Roanoke City Market downtown. The musical group has not been determined.
No admission will be charged.

SMITH MOUNTAIN LAKE
Two concerts are scheduled at Smith Mountain Lake State Park: The Embers on June 1, and The Catalinas on July 15. Each concert is scheduled to run from 7-11 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the gate.

APPOMATTOX
The Voltage Brothers, North Tower and the Fabulous Cruisers will perform on Sunday at Yogi Bear Jellystone Park as part of the Historic Appomattox Railroad Festival. The groups will perform between 1:30 and 7:30 p.m.
Tickets are $10 in advance; $12 at the gate; $5 for children under 12 and may be purchased at the Appomattox Division of Motor Vehicles and at Papers and Paperbacks at River Ridge Mall in Lynchburg.

STUART
The "Hot Fun In the Summertime" Beach Music Festival is scheduled for Saturday, June 9, at Wayside Park in Stuart. The Chairmen of the Board, Band of Oz and the Cornelius Brothers & Sister Rose are among the groups scheduled to perform between noon and 8 p.m.
Tickets are $12.50 in advance; $10 at the gate. Tickets may be purchased at Ticketron outlets. The event is sponsored by the Patrick County Jaycees in cooperation with K92 and Budweiser beer.

DANVILLE
As part of Festival in the Park, The Impressions will perform on Saturday at 3 p.m. at Ballou Park as part of the Danville's celebration. The Kings will play on Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
No admission will be charged for the concerts which are sponsored by the City of Danville and the Festival in the Park, Inc.
