Dupont has cooperated with the EPA in recalling certain lots of the fungicides Benlate and Tersan that, beginning in late 1988, were inadvertently contaminated with the herbicide atrazine. But because of recent incidents of plant damage, the agency believes that a small percentage of the contaminated fungicides are yet to be recovered.
The use of the contaminated fungicides poses a risk of illegal residue on food crops as well as plant injury.
Users who may have the contaminated fungicides should check the lot numbers on all package sizes of the Benlate 50 DF, Lesco Benomyl DG, or Tersan 1991 DF.
Material to be recalled can be identified by the presence of the letter "O" or "B" in the numbering sequence on the bottom of the container.
Anyone who suspects a contaminated package should contact the dealer from whom it was bought or Clyde Roberts at Dupont, 302-992-6162.
