AIDS COUNCIL CHIEF LEAVING

John Conley, director of the AIDS Council of Western Virginia, has been selected to be head of a similar organization in Charlotte, N.C.

Conley, 39, has held his current job since October of last year. The AIDS council gave staff support and technical assistance to six organizations in Southwest Virginia, including the Roanoke AIDS Project. He came to the council in 1988 as associate director.

"We're going to miss him. We're sorry to see him go," said Raleigh Campbell, executive director of the Council of Community Services. The council is a non-profit human resources planning agency that sponsors the AIDS council as one of its services.

Campbell said the council hopes to fill Conley's job by the time he leaves in mid-June.

Conley will supervise a staff of nine in Charlotte.
