BRYAN NEW MEDIA GENERAL CHAIRMAN

J. Stewart Bryan III was elected chairman, president and chief executive officer of Media General Inc. Friday by the media company's board.

Bryan, 52, will succeed his father, D. Tennant Bryan, 83, as chairman and replaces James S. Evans as president and CEO on July 1.

Media General owns the Richmond Times-Dispatch and The Richmond News Leader, the Tampa Tribune and the Winston-Salem Journal, several television stations and cable television franchises, as well as other newspaper and printing holdings.
