OBIT--GEARING, V.

GEARING, VERNON G.\ Vernon G. Gearing, age 81, of 713 Lakeview Circle, N.W., died at his home Friday, May 18, 1990. He was a member of Belmont Christian Church. He was also a member of Norfolk Host Lions Club and was retired manager of the Hampshire Corporation, Norfolk, Va. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. R. Lounelle Gearing; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ruth Wood, Gulfbreeze, Fla.; Vailima and Frank Pedigo, Vinton; Helen and Mervin Keffer, Jean and Cecil Spencer, all of Roanoke; three sisters-in-law, Margaret Sink, Roanoke; Judith Damewood, Alexandria; Elizabeth Gearhart, Vinton; a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted at Oakey's North Chapel at 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 21, with the Rev. John E. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Vinton. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Belmont Christian Church Memorial Fund, 1101 Jamison Ave., S.E., Roanoke, Va., 24013. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel where the family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 and 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
