OBIT--SHOCKLEY, W. FARMVILLE, VA.

SHOCKLEY, WILLIAM L., SR.\ William L. Shockley, Sr., 88, retired optician of Farmville, died Saturday. He was born in Nashville, Tenn., December 17, 1901, a son of the late W. J. E. Shockley and Sarah Nichols Shockley. He is survived by his wife, Bessie Shockley; a daughter, Ethel S. Southall of Farmville; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Pedersen, Long Island, N.Y.; two sons, W. L. Shockley, Jr., King, N. C.; Richard R. Shockley, Benton, Ill.; two brothers, Paul D. Shockley, Hendersonville, Tenn.; Frank Shockley, Nashville, Tenn.; twelve grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Monday at the Doyne-Burger Funeral Home in Farmville with interment in Trinity Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
