LUTHERAN GROUP OKS FUND DRIVE FOR FAMILY SERVICES

Clergy and lay delegates to the Virginia Lutheran Synod Assembly in Salem overwhelmingly approved on Saturday a campaign to raise $800,000 to $1 million to update the Lutheran Family Services program based in Salem.

The drive will last three years and is the first for the church-related agency in more than 20 years. The money will provide more services to Lutherans with special needs such as adoption, will give churches funds to start programs to strengthen healthy families and will provide for more counseling, special education and foster-home care for children and youth with critical needs.
