BROTHER CHARGED IN STABBING OF PAIR

A brother and sister were each stabbed several times Sunday morning in their Northwest Roanoke home, and their older brother has been charged, police said.

Julie Marie Childress, 27, and Timothy Childress, 24, of the 600 block of Harrison Avenue Northwest, suffered multiple knife wounds and were taken to Community Hospital. They were both listed in stable condition Sunday night.

The stabbings occurred at about 9:45 a.m.

Their brother, Harry Thomas Childress, 36, of the same address, has been charged with two counts of malicious wounding. He is being held in the Roanoke City Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.

Police said a motive has not been determined in the incident, which is under investigation.
