ROTARY CLUB AWARDS HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

Several high school seniors from Montgomery County Schools have been selected for the Blacksburg Rotary Club's Excellence in Fine Arts and Vocational Scholarship awards for 1989-90. Candidates for the awards were nominated by teachers and counselors in their respective schools.

The awards in fine arts are to recognize excellence in visual arts, instrumental music, vocal music, and drama. The vocational scholarships recognize excellence in vocational education.

The award recipients in visual arts are:

James Grubb of Auburn High, Dawn Brockman of Christiansburg High, Deborah Sisson of Shawsville High, and Karen Kyle and Jennifer Roggenbuck of Blacksburg High.

In instrumental music the winners are:

Robert Hurt of Shawsville High, Marvin McNeill of Christiansburg, and Vincent Wang of Blacksburg High.

In vocal music the award recipients are:

Rachel Foster and Beth Henderson of Blacksburg High, Leigh Ann Teel of Auburn High, Kristie Akers of Christiansburg High, and Susan Creasey of Shawsville High.

The recipient in drama is Catina Lowery of Christiansburg.

The vocational scholarship winners are:

Eva Howell of Auburn High, Teresa Cromer of Shawsville High, Richard Caldwell and Sarah Larsen of Christiansburg High, and Marie Adamo and Dan Kellogg of Blacksburg High.

Award recipients and their guests were recognized at a banquet at the Donaldson Brown Center at Virginia Tech.

Each fine arts winner received a certificate and a $100 cash award. Each vocational winner received a $500 scholarship to be used to further their education in a vocational area.
