2 INDICTED FOR TAINTING SOUP WITH SYRINGES

A man and woman accused of dropping cocaine-tainted syringes into three Chesterfield County supermarket soup kettles were indicted Monday on three felony counts of adulteration of food products.

Discovery of the syringes in mid-March prompted the closing of supermarket soup bars throughout the Richmond area for several days.

Bonnie Grissom Bayliss, 26, will be tried June 29 in Chesterfield Circuit Court. No trial date has been set for Joseph E. Scearce Jr., 38.

Each charge carries a potential prison term of two to 20 years. - Associated Press
