VARIETY OF RADIO SPECIALS OFFERED FOR MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND

Plenty of specials are on tap for this Memorial Day weekend.

WRIQ will salute country stars of the '80s for its holiday program, " '80s Memorial Weekend Special," Saturday through Monday.

WVVV and WJJJ will be on remote all weekend for the Magic Mountain Bike Race starting today at 9 a.m. and ending Sunday at Mountain Lake for the finish.

WFNR will also be helping to operate communications during the bike race also.

Another big race is the Budweiser 300 at Pulaski County Speedway tonight. WRAD and WRIQ start broadcast action at 6:45 p.m. WPSK's "Fast Lane '90" gives track and weather information and interviews the fans, drivers and officials prior to the race, 5-7 p.m.

WPSK's Memorial Weekend special includes a broadcast from the gazebo at Claytor Lake State Park, today from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. focusing on "Know When To Say When." On Monday, WPSK spotlights Hank Williams Jr. in a three-hour program starting at 3 p.m.

\ COUNTRY: WKEX's Tim Lagan hosts a Hank Williams Sr. and Jr. special Monday 7-9 p.m. and a Glen Campbell feature Wednesday 7-9 p.m.

"Country Crossroads" is simulcast over WRAD Sunday at 6:30 p.m. and on WKEX Saturday 8:30 a.m. and features Kathy Mattea this week. ROCK: On WVRU this week: "Long Live Rock" Monday 9 p.m. features Part One of a Led Zeppelin series focusing on the group through 1971. "Golden Oldies" is today 12 to 2 and "Funny Farm," a comedy extravaganza, airs Wednesday 8:30 p.m.

\ RACES: WJJJ airs NASCAR racing today with the Champion Sparkplug 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway starting at 12:45 p.m.

Sunday on WJJJ, it's more NASCAR racing with the Coca Cola 600 at 12:15 p.m. from Charlotte Motor Speedway.

\ NEWS: WPSK starts "June Jam Week" Tuesday through Friday, offering chances to win tickets to the June Jam Concert in Fort Payne, Ala. on June 9 with Alabama, Dolly Parton and Clint Black. Listen for details.

WKEX's "Focus on the Family," weekdays at 9 a.m. and again at 6:05 p.m., discusses "School Textbook Controversy," Monday; "CPR and a Mother's Prayer" Tuesday; and "Abortion and Christian Colleges" Wednesday and Thurday. Friday's program will be announced.

WVRU's "Talk of the Town" airs Wednesday 8 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. Friday with a program on special education in the schools.

"Perceptions," on WVVV Sunday 7:30 a.m. and on WJJJ 12:25 p.m. Sunday, features the Triangle Bass Masters with Banjo Williams.

\ GOSPEL: WPUV's live "Banded Hub Hoedown" today from 1-3 p.m. features gospel group the Weeks Family.

WFNR's "Glorious Gospel Highway Show" airs Sunday 2:30 p.m. and is dedicated to truckers on the interstate.
