KNIGHTS' FOUNTAIN WINS DISCUS

Cave Spring's Jill Fountain won the discus with a toss of 120 feet, 2 inches, and the Knights girls' team earned 17 3/4 points Friday to lead after three field events in the Virginia High School League Group AAA track and field meet at Todd Stadium.

Three schools - Great Bridge, T.C. Williams and Meadowbrook - were tied for second with 10 points each.

Other Knights who placed in the girls' meet were Jenny Mays, third in the discus at 119-4, and Wendy Maxey, who cleared 5-4 to finish fourth in the high jump. - Staff report
