Don Thurston Parker, age 74, of 325 West Main Street, died suddenly on Saturday, May 26, 1990, in Bedford County Memorial Hospital. He was born in Bedford on August 8, 1915, the son of the late Don Ernest Parker and Fannie Eva Martin Parker. He was retired owner of Don T. Parker Machine Shop, Inc., a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, and served in the Army Air Corps as a glider pilot during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Berneace Dixon (Pat) Parker; a son, John Nicholas Parker of New Orleans, La.; a daughter, Donna Parker Massey of Roanoke; two sisters, Theodosia Parker Gish of Roanoke and Bettie Parker Talbot of Cloverdale; a grandson, Andrew Davies Massey of Roanoke. Graveside services will be held Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Oakwood Cemetery with the Rev. Reginald H. Potts, III, officiating. Memorials may be made to the Main Street United Methodist Church Building Fund. The family will receive friends Sunday from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home and other times at the residence.
