KIDS FISH FREE IN CLINIC; GET LESSON ON ECOLOGY

Youngsters from 6 to 12 will have an opportunity to catch fish and learn about ecology and conservation at the same time during a Department of Game and Inland Fisheries' National Fishing Week program Saturday.

Six fishing clinics have been scheduled across Virginia, including one at the Veterans Hospital in Salem. Last year's program at the hospital pond yielded numerous catches for participants.

The 8 a.m. to noon programs are being sponsored by the department and the Virginia B.A.S.S. Federation and McDonalds. Equipment and coaches will be provided. Pre-registration is requested.

To register for the Salem event, call 857-7704.

For the Hungry Mother State Park program in Marion, call 703-783-3422; Lake Toms, Staunton, 703-332-9210.
