PUT UTILITY LINES UNDERGROUND

C&P TELEPHONE Co. personnel just butchered two beautiful hemlock trees on our property, which took about 30 years to grow - supposedly because they were interfering with the lines.

I think it is a crying shame that C&P and Appalachian Power can come on private property, with no prior notice, and desecrate beautiful trees with no consideration of the way the trees will look when they finish their expert (?) handiwork.

Why don't they put their fool lines underground where they belong? Both their rates are so high I'm sure they could use some of their profits to beautify the environment. ROSALIE P. COMBS ROANOKE
