ROBINSON, LEMLEY WIN TENNIS TITLES

A pair of interlopers from Lynchburg dominated the Roanoke County Men's Open tennis tournament over the weekend, winning the doubles championship and squaring off in the singles finals.

Top-seeded Drew Robinson came away with the singles championship Sunday when second-seeded Craig Lemley had to retire with a knee injury in the deciding set. Robinson, the professional at Boonesboro Country Club, was leading 6-4, 3-6, 4-2 when Lemley, from Oakwood Country Club, retired.

Robinson and Lemley had teamed to win the doubles title 6-1, 6-3 over Skip Hamilton and Randy Dickey.

The tournament was sponsored by the Roanoke County Parks and Recreation Department and the Roanoke Valley Tennis Association. - Staff report
