Mrs. Dorothy Dillard Walsh, age 77, died at home on Sunday, May 27, 1990. She was the widow of George Abram Walsh. Mrs. Walsh is survived by a daughter, Judith Walsh White; son-in-law, Christian Sherwood White, Chevy Chase, Md.; two granddaughters, Melissa Cabell French, Frederick, Md., and Susannah Terrell French, San Francisco, Calif.,; one sister, Margaret E. Greeley; three brothers, Horace Cabell Dillard, Jack Blake Dillard, and Bill Edward Dillard, all of Roanoke; close relatives also include a brother-in-law, Emmett E. Greeley, and five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Duane E. Nofsinger, Mrs. Ruth Bibb Dillard, Mrs. Marguerite Fielder Dillard, Mrs. Katherine Crumpacker Dillard, all of Roanoke; Mrs. Nanny W. Blake, Culpepper. Mrs. Walsh was a piano teacher in Roanoke for over fifty years. Her students won many competitions and awards. She was a member of The Thursday Morning Music Club, The Blue Ridge Forum and the James Breckenridge Chapter of the D.A.R. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Walsh attended Washington University, and Hollins College where she studied piano with Donald Bolger and Anne McClenny. The family will receive friends at Oakey's, Tuesday, May 29, from 3:00 until 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Services will be held Wednesday, May 30, 2:00 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church. The Reverend John H. Lamotte will preside. Graveside services will follow the service at Evergreen Cemetery. Those who wish may make donations to the Samaritan's Inn, P.O. Box 5534, Roanoke, VA 24012, in lieu of sending flowers.
