\ Walter Massie Roberts, age 87, of Roanoke passed away Tuesday in a local nursing home. He was retired from McDowell & Wood Construction Company and a member of Belmont Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lona M. Roberts, and a son, Walter C. Roberts. Surviving are a son, William M. Roberts, six daughters, Mrs. Fred (Winnie) Mitchell, Mrs. Joseph (Natalie) Germino, Mrs. Paul (Faye S.) Dickerson, Mrs. Sam (Ila Kaye) Jones, Mrs. Bill (Franc) Thomas, Mrs. Stanley (Katherine) Hill, all of Roanoke; nineteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted from the graveside, Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Roy Taylor officiating. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to Belmont Baptist Church. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel.
