RAIN HITS AREA TEAMS IN STATE ACTION

Rain washed out most of today's scheduled Group AA and A state tournament softball and baseball games involving seven Timesland teams.

The only game still scheduled to be played is Alleghany going to Virginia High in a Group AA baseball contest starting at 5 p.m. If it is rained out, it will be played Wednesday at 2.

In other baseball games, Grayson County's game at home against J.I. Burton has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. while Bath visits St. Paul at 5 in Group A contests.

Four Timesland teams are involved in state softball tournaments.

Defending Group A champion Glenvar's home game against St. Paul has been rescheduled for Wednesday at 5 while Parry McCluer's trip to Honaker was still scheduled to be played this afternoon.

In Group AA, Salem's trip to Poquoson has been pushed back to 7 p.m. on Wednesday. The Spartans lost to the same team 2-1 in last year's semifinals. Lord Botetourt has a bye and will play in the semifinals Friday.

Semifinals and finals in the tournaments are set at one site. The Group AA baseball and softball tournaments will finish this weekend in Harrisonburg, and the Group A baseball is at Covington and the softball in Salem.
