MAN ROBBED, BEATEN WITH STICKS IN ATTACK

A Southeast Roanoke man told police that five men beat him with sticks Monday in the 900 block of Ninth Street.

Arthur William Snead Jr. of the 900 block of Jamison Avenue said the attack, which happened about 3:30 a.m., apparently stemmed from a fight the previous day that he had broken up.

Snead suffered cuts and bruises to his head, and was robbed of about $275 during the attack. An investigation is continuing.
