POSTAL RATE LOW; WHAT OF SERVICE?

IN REGARD to the April 15 letter by Andra Austin of Roanoke in regard to the increase in postal rates, I agree with her to a certain point. The United States does have the lowest postal rate of any free country, but what about the service we get?

I have mailed letters from Roanoke on Monday to Richmond and they are not received until Friday (if we're lucky) and sometimes the following Monday. I have written the postmaster in Richmond and the Richmond newspapers. I have received two very nice letters from the postmaster explaining errors, but they have not been corrected.

Let's correct our errors before we raise rates!
