DEALER GETS OK TO FLY VICTORIA'S BLOOMERS

An antiques dealer has won a court battle giving her the right to hang Queen Victoria's bloomers from her market stall.

Councilors had banned stalls from selling second-hand clothing but allowed Anne Swift to continue as long as she displayed garments flat. Swift deals exclusively in antique textiles.

Swift said she could not sell the valuable Victorian garments that way because they would become creased and damaged. The garments included three camisoles valued at $500 each, one nightgown at $845, and a pair of bloomers, whose price is available upon application.
