PANNILL, ROBERT S.

Robert Samuel Pannill, age 80, of 1205 Sam Lions Trail, died Tuesday, May 29, 1990 in a Martinsville hospital. Born December 21, 1909 in Martinsville, he was a son of the late Samuel Roberts Pannill and Elizabeth Reed Hudspeth Pannill. A graduate of William and Mary, he was retired as the Vice-President of Sales and a Member of the Board of Directors of Pannill Knitting. In World War II, he served as a Major in the U. S. Army Air Corp. Mr. Pannill was a member of the Kiwanis Club, Chatmoss Country Club, and the First Presbyterian Church of Martinsville, where he was a Deacon and Elder. He was predeceased by his wife, Margaret Stephens Pannill. Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. William R. (Margaret Pannill) Allen, III, Greensboro, N.C.; a son, Robert Stephens Pannill, Charlotte, N.C.; a sister, Mrs. Lucy Moir Pannill Broun, Martinsville; two grandchildren, William R. Allen, IV, and Elizabeth Cabell Allen; two nieces and a nephew. A graveside service will be 11:00 a.m. Friday in Oakwood Cemetery, conducted by Dr. Dwight Christenbury and Rev. Sel Harris. Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church, Patrick Henry Ave., Martinsville, Va. 24112, or the Martinsville-Henry County Rescue Squad, P. O. Box 4982, Martinsville, Va. 24115. The family will receive friends at the home. Arrangements by McKee Funeral Services.
