EX-NS&T CHAIRMAN QUITS CRESTAR BOARD

John J. Mason, former chairman of NS&T Bankshares in Washington, acquired by Crestar Bank in 1985, has resigned from the Crestar board.

Mason said he wants to devote more time to his investment in Washington Bancorporation, parent of National Bank of Washington.
