EX-WORKER CHARGED WITH LARCENY, FORGERY

A former secretary for Bedford Main Street Inc. was indicted Thursday on charges that she stole from the non-profit organization.

Shari F. Mullins, 26, of Roanoke was indicted by a grand jury on two counts of grand larceny and two counts of forgery.

Mullins, who earlier this month waived a preliminary hearing, will be tried in Bedford Circuit Court July 13.

Bedford police investigators say more than $8,000 was discovered missing when it conducted a routine examination of finances earlier this year.

Designed to rejuvenate Bedford's downtown, Bedford Main Street was created in 1985. The group has an annual budget of about $65,000.
