LYNCHBURG EDUCATOR TO HEAD STATE SCHOOLS

Gov. Douglas Wilder today named Joseph A. Spagnolo Jr., superintendent of schools in Lynchburg, to serve as state superintendent of public instruction.

Spagnolo will replace S. John Davis, who announced a year ago that he would retire Jan. 1, but stayed in the job an extra six months while Wilder looked for a successor.
