BIG ISLAND GETS RECYCLING CENTER

County officials have opened a recycling center in Big Island - the third recycling site in the county so far.

Another site will be opened in Stewartsville June 23. Eventually officials hope to have a drop off point in each district. People can drop off glass, drink cans, aluminum and newspaper - but not plastics - at the sites.

The drop points are part of the county's efforts to comply with state recyling mandate of 25 percent of the county's solid waste by 1995.
