CHINESE ACROBATS CANCEL FESTIVAL PERFORMANCE

The Chinese Golden Dragon Acrobats and Magicians of Taipei, scheduled to highlight Festival in the Park's Grand Finale Sunday, will not be able to make the performance.

Wendi Turner, executive director of Festival, said Friday that the Chinese government would not give the group authorization to leave the country this week. Turner said she was unsure whether the last-minute cancellation was due to political reasons.

The New York Lyric Circus, featuring stilt-walking and plate-juggling, will fill in for the acrobats. They are scheduled to perform at Victory Stadium at 6:40 and 8 p.m.

Also performing at the finale will be the Tampa-based Bits 'N Pieces Theatre. They'll be featured in the musical play "Pandarella" at 6 and 7:20 p.m. TODAY ELMWOOD PARK\ 8 a.m.-10:15 a.m.: DOMINION BANK FESTIVAL CLASSIC RUN\ 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: 32nd ANNUAL SIDEWALK ART SHOW 10 a.m.-11:30 p.m.: Concessions 11:30 a.m.-8 p.m.: Cafe Europa Noon-11:30 p.m.: Wine and beer garden\ \ GAZEBO 11 a.m.: Sharon McGeorge Noon: Biesenbach and Landon 1 p.m.: Entr'acte 2 p.m.: Let the Good Times Roll 3 p.m.: Bill Harouff 4 p.m.: Wayne Scott Joness\ \ AMPHITHEATRE 10:30 a.m.: Mickey Nelson 11:30 a.m.: Dominion Awards 1 p.m.: Roanoke College Children's Choir 2-4 p.m.: TBA 4 p.m.: The Purveyors 5:15 p.m.: Luteman and Brown 6:15 p.m.: The Option 7:15 p.m.: Spellbound\ 9 p.m.: 1964 as the Beatles 10:30 p.m.-11 p.m.: Laser Fest\ 10 a.m.-5 p.m.: COLLAGE OF CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES\ KALEIDOSCOPE CHILDREN'S THEATRE 10 a.m.: Gary Goldbrath 10:30 a.m.: David Bear Stuart 11 a.m.: Theatre IV Noon: Bobby Lilly 12:30 p.m.: Gary Goldbrath 1 p.m.: Dr. Chumley and Bill 2 p.m.: Theatre IV 3 p.m.: Bobby Lilly 3:30 p.m.: David Bear Stuart 4 p.m.: The Rip-Its 4:30 p.m.: Bo Chagnon\ 4\ \ VIRGINIA MUSEUM OF TRANSPORTATION 1 p.m.: Robbie Dummitt 2 p.m.: Luteman and Brown
