WOMAN CHARGED IN COLLISION

A woman whose car was involved in a collision with a school bus filled with children Wednesday was charged by police Friday with failure to yield right of way.

Trinna Fogg, 20, of Christiansburg, faces a preliminary hearing June 26 in Montgomery County General District Court, according to Officer B.P. Roane.

Fogg was released Friday from Montgomery Regional Hospital, where she had been treated for multiple fractures and a slight concussion.

The wreck occurred at Roanoke and Depot streets about 8 a.m.

Fogg was driving east on Roanoke Street, and the bus, carrying 23 pupils, was traveling in the opposite direction on its way to Christiansburg Elementary School and Christiansburg Primary School.

Fogg apparently tried to turn left onto Depot Street in front of the bus, according to Sgt. F.L. Graves. Anna McCrickard, who was driving the bus, veered right in an attempt to avoid Fogg's car, but slammed into its right side, Graves said.

The bus then jumped a curb and hit a telephone pole.

McCrickard and 11 of the pupils were taken to the hospital. Most were treated for minor cuts and bruises, and all were released to their parents, who had been notified by school officials.

McCrickard also was treated and released. School officials commended her for attempts to avoid the collision and for her concern for the pupils.
