UVA'S RYAN WILL SPEAK AT BANQUET

The Roanoke Times & World-News will hold its season-ending high school sports banquet today at 6 p.m. at the Holiday Inn-Tanglewood.

The featured speaker will be Debbie Ryan, coach of the University of Virginia women's basketball team, which reached the NCAA Final Four.

This is the fifth such banquet to honor All-Timesland football and basketball teams, as well as players and coaches of the year in the other high school sports that have area team competition.

The banquet will conclude with the naming of the athletes of the year for boys' and girls' competition. This award, judged by the Times & World-News sports department, is given to the athletes who have had the most outstanding season with the greatest versatility in competition. - Staff report
