CARNEY, BESS P.\ Mrs Bess Phillippi Carney, age 87 of the Richfield Retirement Center, died Thursday, May 31, 1990. She was the widow of Aubrey C. Carney. Mrs. Carney was a former American Viscose worker and a member of the Connelly Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Gordon Cecil, Roanoke; one grandson, Glenn E. Cecil, Roanoke; three sisters, Mabel Ashe and Ella Wilkerson, both of Roanoke; Rita Lindsey, Rural Retreat; one brother, Frank Phillippi, Sun City Ariz. Funeral services will be at Oakey's North Chapel 11:00 a.m. Monday withthe Rev. Dr. Gordon W. Grimes and the Rev. G. William Foster officiating. Interment will be in the Sherwood Memorial Park. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel.
