Ila Bowling Wilkerson, age 71, of 422 Lee Street, died Monday, June 4, 1990, at her residence. She was born in Bedford County June 8, 1918, a daughter of the late William Vince Bowling and Louisa Scott Bowling. She was the widow of Ernest Rucker Wilkerson, Sr. She was a retired employee of Belding-Corticelli and was a member of Flint Hill Baptist Church. She is survived by two sons, Jimmy W. Wilkerson, Ernest R. (Buddy) Wilkerson, Jr., both of Bedford; a daughter, Mrs. Richard W. (Barbara) Couch, Jr., Forest; a brother, Warren E. Bowling, Bedford; a sister, Ethel B. Perry, Bedford; four grandchildren, Richard W. Couch, III, Thomas Michael Wilkerson, Monica Wray Wilkerson, Joel William Wilkerson. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Michael Winters officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery. The family suggests those wishing to make memorials consider the American Cancer Society. The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Carder-Tharp Funeral Home, Bedford.
