TAX HELP OFFERED FROM IRS

A problem resolution team from the Internal Revenue Service will come to Roanoke next week to help people with unresolved federal tax problems.

The staff members will be in Room 657 of the Poff Federal Building from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. June 13. This will be the first IRS "we care day" in Roanoke, although teams have gone to other Virginia cities.

Becky Harris, IRS problem resolution officer in Richmond, said the purpose is to help people who have been unable to resolve problems with the IRS through regular channels in a reasonable length of time. Although the program has existed for 10 years, Harris said, many people don't know about it. Those who plan to meet with the representatives should bring all correspondence and documents related to their problem.
