The grand opening for a 40,000-square-foot Brendle's store at Valley View mall will be the week of July 21. With that opening, the Elkin, N.C., chain of 47 discount stores has not made a final decision whether its Lee-Hi store will stay open or for how long, said David R. Renegar, secretary-treasurer. Brendle's also has a store at Tanglewood Mall.

\ Chesapeake Corp., operator of a Roanoke plant, has been selected by American Papermaker magazine as the best-managed company in its industry for 1989.
