SHOWALTER, THELMA D.

Thelma Dalton Showalter, age 77, formerly of 7th Street S.E., died Wednesday. She was preceded in death by her husband, Everett B. Showalter; and a son, Everett Douglas Showalter. Mrs. Showalter was a member of 9th Street Church of the Brethren. Surviving are daughter and son-in-law, Lestelle S. (Ruthie) and Michael Smith, Roanoke; grandson, Christopher Michael Smith; three nieces, Janette Tomlinson, Salem; Harriet Overstreet, Vinton; Clarice Foutz, Richmond. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the E.J. Jacobs Scholarship Fund, c/o 9th Street Church of the Brethren or to the Arthritis Foundation, 1240-B 3rd St. Roanoke, Va. 24016. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel with the Rev. Gene M. Hagenberger, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Thursday at Oakey's, Roanoke.
