VIRGINIA GUARD STALEY ON USA SELECT TEAM

Guard Dawn Staley of the University of Virginia has been named to the USA Select women's basketball team.

Staley was chosen from a group of players who attended tryouts at the United States Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, Colo. She was a first-team All-America selection and led the Cavaliers with 17.9 points and 6.7 rebounds per game this past season.

Stanford University coach Tara VanDerveer will coach the team, which will play a series of exhibition games in Yugoslavia and the Soviet Union from June 26-July 6. - Staff report
