IN SCHOOL

AMY SUE FISHER has been inducted into Sigma Theta Tau, a national honor society of nursing. Fisher, a 1985 honor society graduate of Salem High School, is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Fisher.

\ PENNY GOODALL, a member of the board of trustees of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools, recently participated with U.S. Secretary of Education Lauro F. Cavazos in the first major meeting of education and business leaders since the National Governors Association released in the new "Goals for Education."

THE SALEM HIGH SCHOOL newspaper staff recently received the results of the 1988-89 judging from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association. Three newspaper awards were presented to Virginia schools, and The Oracle received two of them. Christine Ventura, Pam Feazell, Lisa Hill and Nicole Balams received a second-place certificate for Single Subject Presentation. Katie Fanke and Balams received a certificate of merit for Page One Design. The Oracle was sponsored by Ray Moore. Hill served as editor-in-chief.
