GILES BUDGET HEARING THURSDAY

The Giles County Board of Supervisors will have a public hearing Thursday on a proposed 1990-91 budget.

The budget will be voted on June 22 at 1 p.m. It is advertised at $16,719,802 with no increase in the personal property tax rate of 68 cents per $100.

The supervisors started reviewing $16,863,509 in budget requests in mid-March. The largest portion of the proposal - $11,630,172 - is for schools.

The School Board's proposal represents an overall 4.62 percent increase in funding, but keeps local funding level at $3.9 million.

Just under $5.1 million is proposed to pay for departments and agencies supported by the county.

In other business at Tuesday's meeting, supervisors approved moving two voting precincts after no comments were made at a public hearing.

In Staffordsville, the precinct will be moved from Sheffey Memorial Methodist Church to Triangle Ruritan Club.

In Pembroke, citizens will vote at the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department's activity building instead of at the Town Hall.
