Virginia Sibold Lucas Lapsley died Thursday morning in a Roanoke nursing home. She was born in Roanoke and lived until 1948 in Pembroke, Va. where she served as Post Master for 9 years. She moved to South Carolina in 1948 and lived in Fort Mill and Rock Hill before returning to Va. in 1978. During her stay in South Carolina she was active in Girl Scout work, serving as a Brownie Scout Leader for 25 years. Surviving are her husband, James W. Lapsley, Jr., Fincastle; daughter, Martha L. Reaves of Winston-Salem, N.C.; granddaughter, Martha Lapsley Reaves of Brandon, Fla.; grandson, Mark Halliday Reaves of Winston-Salem, N.C. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that memorial contributions be made to Miller School Memorial Fund, c/o Miller School, Charlottesville, Va. 22901. Services will be at Oakey's North Chapel at 10 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Nolan R. Crowder will officiate. Graveside services will at 2:30 p.m. Monday in Wilkinson Cemetery in Hillsville. The Rev. Charles Mackey will officiate. Friends may call at Oakey's North Chapel from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Sunday.
