FALLEN TREE CUTS POWER TO 1,900

A power outage in Covington left about 1,900 customers without electricity for about an hour Friday evening.

An official at Virginia Power said a downed tree on a power line caused the outage about 6:35. Power was restored to the affected areas - the northern part of town and some parts of Alleghany County - by 7:34.
