MINES DEPARTMENT ERECTING NEW BUILDING

Work is scheduled to start this month on a 44,000-square-foot building for the Department of Mines, Minerals and Energy, which now has facilities in three locations here.

The $3.62 million building will be located behind Mountain Empire Community College on 12 acres donated by the school. Construction will take about 18 months.

Nearly 100 people will work in the building.
