ROANOKE TRIATHLETES IN TOP FIVE

Two Roanoke athletes finished in the top five of their age divisions Sunday in the East Coast Triathlon, which featured more than 400 competitors.

Elizabeth Niles of Roanoke, competing in her second triathlon in two weeks, finished fifth in the 25-29 age group. She took 2 hours, 11 minutes to complete the 1.5-kilometer swim, 35-kilometer bicycle ride and 10-kilometer run.

Dr. Junius Crowgey, 65, of Roanoke was fourth in the over-50 division and first overall in the over-60 division, covering the course in 2:27.

The overall men's winner was Curtis Alitz of Newport News in 1:40. Leslie Sedon, a world-ranked triathlete from Virginia Beach, won the women's division in 1:55.
