BUSH VISIT CAUSES CONFUSION AT AIRPORT

UNFORTUNATELY, I was at Roanoke Regional Airport when President Bush arrived, en route to address the student body at Liberty University. I became involved in the confusion.

To begin, I had to wait an extra 2 1/2 hours for a flight to arrive. The attendant at USAir told me politely that the plane would either have to land in Richmond and fly back to Roanoke, or remain in the air until the president arrived and left the airport.

In the airport, people rushed around hurriedly in hopes of seeing the president, but since they loaded him directly into his helicopter on the runway, not even a glimpse of him could be had. Persons waiting had to begin asking what the delay was rather than be notified over the loudspeaker.

After finally leaving the airport, I was further angered when I had to pay $2 more than I had intended for parking.

I feel this inconvenience could have been avoided if only the situation was handled differently. LEE ANNE LaPRAD NEW CASTLE
