CONVICTED KILLER HELD IN BOATMAKER'S DEATH

A convicted killer who once was sprung from a Cuban prison by Jesse Jackson has been arrested in the 1987 slaying of Don Aronow, a powerboat builder whose customers included the Customs service and President Bush.

Robert Young, 41, was jailed on murder charges here Tuesday, Metro-Dade police said Tuesday.

Aronow, 59, designer of Donzi and Cigarette speedboats and a world champion powerboat racer, was shot several times by a motorist who waited for him at his marina on a stretch known as Thunderboat Row, authorities said.

Aronow had sold his fast boats to celebrities around the world, including Bush, who named his boat Fidelity. Also on his list of customers were King Juan Carlos of Spain, the former Shah of Iran and ex-Beatle Ringo Starr.
