SLOOP, ERMA L.\ Erma Lucille Romans Giers Sloop, 72, of 1 Jewell Ave., Dublin, died Tuesday evening in the Montgomery Regional Hospital, Blacksburg. Born March 9, 1918 in Marion, she was the daughter of the late, Pauline Marchant Romans Hill and stepdaughter of the late Willard E. Hill. She was a member of the Dublin Presbyterian Church, Dublin. She was a retired legal secretary for the City of Chicago, Ill. Surviving are her husband, Frank Gray Sloop, Sr.; two stepdaughters, Dr. Olin Marsh (Ruth Ann Sloop) Whitener, Darlington, S.C.; Mrs. Andrew W. (Mary Elizabeth Sloop) Montgomery, Roswell, Ga.; two stepsons, Frank Gray Sloop, Jr., Cheraw, S.C.; Alphonso Ward Sloop, San Francisco, Calif.; seven stepgrandsons; one sister, Mrs. James (Evelyn) McNeil, Dublin; one brother, David E. Hill, Christiansburg. Memorial funeral service will be held Friday 2:00 p.m. from the Dublin Presbyterian Church, Dublin with the Dr. Manson B. Tate officiating. The family will receive friends and relatives from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the home of her husband, FranK Gray Sloop, Sr. on 1 Jewell Ave, Dublin. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to be made to the Dublin Presbyterian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box F, Dublin, Va. 24084. Bower Funeral Chapel, East Main Street, Dublin is handling the arrangements.
