Mrs. Mattie May Parsons Davis, age 84, of 120 Minor Road, died at home, June 12, 1990. She was born in Independence, Va. and was the daughter of the late John May Parsons, a state senator, and Mary Belle Bryant Parsons. Mrs. Davis was a graduate of Martha Washington College and also attended James Madison University. She had resided in Charlottesville most of her life since coming as a summer school student to the University of Virginia. She was a member of First Methodist Church and Farmington Country Club. Last month she received a 10 year recognition from the American Red Cross. She was married to the late Terry Hunter Davis of Charlottesville. Surviving are a son, Terry Hunter Davis, Jr., and a grandson, Terry Hunter Davis, III, of Norfolk; two brothers, William Paul Parsons, Wytheville; Joseph Wheeler Parsons, Galax. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, June 15, 1990, at 11:00 a.m. at the Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville. The body will be brought to Independence, Va. where a graveside service will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 p.m. at the Independence Cemetery. Contributions may be made to a church of the donor's choice. Teague Funeral Home in Charlottesville, Va. and Reins-Sturdivant Funeral Home in Independence, Va. are in charge of the arrangements.
