WELL, TRACY, IT'S ALMOST YOUR 2-WAY WRIST RADIO

Dick Tracy, the comic strip detective with the two-way wrist radio, would be pleased. A Japanese company says it plans to introduce a wristwatch with a pager capable of carrying short messages on a liquid-crystal display.

The Seiko Receptor, which took four years to develop, is scheduled to debut next month in Portland, Ore., at an introductory price of $255.

Like Tracy's famous radio, the new wristwatch pager receives radio signals. But the Receptor translates the radio waves into written messages up to 16 characters long.
